Mars in High Definition

MRO carries HiRISE, the most powerful camera ever sent to another planet, resolving objects as small as a desk on the Martian surface. Since 2006 it has returned more data than all other Mars missions combined — over 400 terabits. Its images have been instrumental in selecting landing sites for Curiosity, InSight, and Perseverance.

The Mars Internet

Beyond its own science, MRO serves as the primary data relay for Mars surface missions — essentially acting as Mars's internet backbone.
