Orbital Radar's Lunar Globe is an interactive, real-time 3D map of the Moon. It tracks active lunar orbiters — NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), India's Chandrayaan-2, Korea's Danuri (KPLO) and NASA's CAPSTONE — on live positions derived from JPL Horizons ephemeris, plus China's Queqiao-2 relay on a physically modeled orbit. Click any orbiter to see its altitude, velocity, ground track, orbital period and whether it currently has line-of-sight to Earth or is behind the far side.

The globe also maps the lunar surface: Apollo and robotic landing sites (Apollo 11 at Tranquility Base, Apollo 17, Luna 24, Chang'e 4 and Chang'e 6, Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander, and IM-1 Odysseus), impact and crash sites, named maria and craters (Tycho, Copernicus, Aristarchus, the South Pole–Aitken basin), and the permanently shadowed regions and peaks of near-eternal light at the south pole that NASA's Artemis programme is targeting. It renders the real day/night terminator, the Moon's current phase and Earth–Moon distance, live space weather at the Moon, and Earth in the lunar sky.

How far away is the Moon right now?

The Moon averages about 384,400 km from Earth, ranging from roughly 356,500 km at perigee to 406,700 km at apogee. The globe shows the live Earth–Moon distance and the light-travel time (about 1.3 seconds each way) for the current moment.

Where did Apollo 11 land?

Apollo 11 landed at Tranquility Base in Mare Tranquillitatis (about 0.7°N, 23.5°E) in July 1969. The globe marks Tranquility Base along with Apollo 17, Luna 24, Chang'e 4 and 6, Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander and IM-1 Odysseus.

What is a permanently shadowed region (PSR)?

A permanently shadowed region is a crater floor near the lunar poles that never receives direct sunlight, so it can stay below about −170°C and trap water ice for billions of years. Orbital Radar maps south-polar PSRs such as Shackleton, Cabeus and Haworth, which NASA's Artemis programme is targeting.
