Legal & Terms of Use

Terms governing the use of Orbital Radar, its data, content and services

Last updated: 23 May 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Orbital Radar (orbitalradar.com), including its website, APIs, widgets, data feeds and any associated services (collectively, the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

These terms apply to all visitors, users, contributors and anyone who accesses the Platform in any capacity — including via automated tools, bots, scripts or third-party integrations.

2. Intellectual Property & Copyright

All original content on the Platform — including but not limited to website design, user interface elements, page layouts, text, articles, blog posts, educational material, illustrations, charts, visualisations, dashboards, interactive tools, source code, algorithms, software logic, brand assets, logos and trade dress — is the intellectual property of Orbital Radar and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, republish, download, store or transmit any material from the Platform except as expressly permitted in these terms or with prior written consent.

The Orbital Radar name, logo and brand identity are proprietary. Use of these marks requires explicit written permission. See our press page for approved brand asset usage.

3. Scraping & Automated Access
✕ Strictly Prohibited

Automated scraping, crawling, harvesting or bulk downloading of data, content, pages or assets from Orbital Radar is strictly prohibited without prior written authorisation. This includes — but is not limited to — the following:

Enforcement: We actively monitor for automated access patterns and scraping activity. Violations may result in immediate IP blocking, access revocation and, where appropriate, legal action including claims for damages and injunctive relief. We reserve the right to pursue all available legal remedies.

Legitimate research: Academic researchers and educational institutions may request data access for non-commercial purposes via our press and partnerships page. We evaluate all requests and actively support legitimate research.

Search engines: Recognised search engine crawlers (Googlebot, Bingbot, etc.) are permitted to index public pages in accordance with our robots.txt directives.

4. Content Usage Policy

Use of Orbital Radar content is governed by three tiers. For detailed guidance, see our Press & Media page.

Free with attribution: Screenshots for articles and reviews, citing data and statistics, linking to pages and tools, blog references, educational classroom use, social media sharing, and embedding official widgets. Attribution must be provided as described in Section 5.

Requires prior permission: Bulk data export, API integration, commercial use of data or visuals, republishing full articles, white-labelling, conference installations, and any use beyond individual, non-commercial reference.

Not permitted: Scraping or automated data harvesting (see Section 3), removing branding from widgets or embeds, presenting Orbital Radar data as your own, mirroring or cloning pages, training AI/ML models on our content, and any use that implies endorsement or affiliation without agreement.

Any use of Orbital Radar content, data or services without proper attribution, permission or affiliation — where required — constitutes a violation of these terms and may result in takedown requests, access revocation and further legal action.

5. Attribution Requirements

When using Orbital Radar content under the "free with attribution" tier, you must provide clear, visible attribution near the referenced content. The attribution must include the name "Orbital Radar" and a link to orbitalradar.com.

Acceptable formats include:

Attribution must not be hidden, obscured, placed in metadata only, or rendered in a font size substantially smaller than the surrounding content. For broadcast or video use, an on-screen credit or verbal mention is required.

6. Widgets & Embeds

Orbital Radar provides embeddable widgets for satellite tracking, launch countdowns and other features. These widgets are free to embed on third-party websites subject to the following conditions:

We reserve the right to modify, update or discontinue widget functionality at any time. Embedding a widget does not constitute an endorsement or partnership unless explicitly agreed.

7. Data Sources & Accuracy

Orbital Radar aggregates data from multiple authoritative public sources including Space-Track.org (18th Space Defense Squadron), CelesTrak, Launch Library 2, and other public catalogues. See our Data Sources page for the full list.

While we make every effort to ensure accuracy and timeliness, orbital data is inherently approximate. Two-Line Element sets are predictions, not exact positions. We make no warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability or fitness for any particular purpose of the data presented on this Platform.

Orbital Radar data must not be used for safety-of-life applications, collision avoidance decisions, navigation, air traffic management or any purpose where inaccurate data could result in harm to persons or property.

8. User Accounts

Certain features may require you to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate registration information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or are used for purposes inconsistent with the Platform's intended use.

9. Privacy & Cookies

Orbital Radar respects your privacy. We collect minimal data necessary to operate the Platform:

We do not sell, trade or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Orbital Radar does not serve advertising.

No ads, no tracking

Orbital Radar is funded by voluntary donations and does not display advertisements. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking service. Your browsing data stays with us and is used solely to improve the Platform.

10. DMCA & Takedown Requests

If you believe that content on Orbital Radar infringes your copyright or intellectual property rights, please contact us at the address below with the following information:

Takedown requests should be sent to [email protected]. We will respond to valid requests promptly and in accordance with applicable law.

11. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or free of viruses or harmful components.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Orbital Radar and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform.

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which the claim is based, including negligence, breach of contract, strict liability or otherwise, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be lawfully excluded.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. The current version of these terms always governs your use of the Platform.
