What Wisconsin uses
Checked November 2026The Wisconsin Standards for Science, adopted by the State Superintendent on November 13, 2017. Wisconsin codes each core idea by standard, priority and grade or band, so SCI.ESS1.A.5 is Earth and Space Science standard ESS1, priority A, at Grade 5, while m and h mean middle school and high school; the national codes, such as 5-ESS1-1, are printed only as examples. Space sits in SCI.ESS1, with the gravity and sunlight ideas in SCI.PS2 and SCI.PS3.
